Seeds of Civilization - Weekly Newsletter 1

Hello everyone, BlackHawk here, time to discuss more about Seeds of Civilization, as you can see from the title, we're doing weekly newsletters now, most of these will serve as announcements on the current progress of the project and any plans I might have or feedback I might require, the plan of the game having monthly updates is still up and we have smooth sailing for an April release of the new demo, I can't give a concrete date yet, but it will be during this month.

Now, for the news:

Welcoming a new team member

I realized that if I want to give you guys a quality product in a timely manner I would have to invite someone new to help me with the project, so I have welcomed in a new artist, Z Dragon! She was the one that was guiding me and giving me feedback on the art I have done for the game ever since I started working on it, so I thought it would make sense to invite her, she's an amazing artist and I think she will be a great asset to the team, since we discussed all of this only last night we still don't have any art done by her yet in regards to SoC, but I will leave a link to her twitter/bluesky account if anyone's interested in seeing her work.

Character ref sheets

If you are in the Strawberry Jam server you might have already seen these, but I'm gonna share them here as well, currently SoC has only three characters, including the player, although for the final version I plan on having at least ten (eight of which will be breeding partners for the player), all of this not counting enemies. Here are the ref sheets (drawn by yours truly) of the currently three designed characters (all three will be in the demo):

Consolidation of a better core loop

This is one I actually want feedback on what you all think, the original idea was making an infinitely scaling roguelite, where currency you would get in the roguelite portion would be used to improve yours and your breeding partners breeding capabilities, and the offspring you would get would be used to upgrade your stats in the roguelite, that's when I realized runs would feel way too samey and it wouldn't be fun at all, so I decided to take a more traditional approach, there is now an end, and you will be collecting items to improve your build as you progress, there will still be meta progression too although there will most likely be a limit, but once you finish a run you will be able to access an endless mode, and milestones achieved in both normal and endless will allow you to unlock new breeding partners, starting weapons, items, and more, breeding will still scale infinitely and offspring will still be used to upgrade the roguelite portion, so yes, you will be able to realize your dream of making naneinf babies, you will also be able to have bonds with your breeding partners.

Social Media

I have created a twitter and bluesky account for Doelicious Games, there isn't much there yet, but I wanted to leave it set up, nothing much to say here besides give us a follow.

That's all for now, thank you for your time and happy breeding!
